Advanced Extractions: Hands-On Techniques

7 HOURS | PRIVATE 1:1 | $1,395

This full-day private training builds on extraction fundamentals and allows significantly more time for advanced technique, problem-solving, case discussion, and hands-on practice. The emphasis is on developing better judgment and adaptability: understanding why a lesion is not releasing, how to modify preparation or technique, how to work more precisely in difficult areas, and how to avoid creating unnecessary tissue trauma while pursuing a thorough result.

Detailed Outline

  • Advanced review of lesion identification, congestion patterns, contraindications, and extraction decision-making

  • Advanced skin preparation and selecting preparation methods based on skin condition and congestion

  • Technique refinement for manual, gauze, cotton-tip, and comedone-extractor methods

  • Closed comedones, milia, deep or stubborn congestion, and difficult-to-release lesions

  • Facial-area-specific technique and adapting pressure, angle, positioning, and stabilization

  • Troubleshooting incomplete or unsuccessful extractions and knowing when additional pressure is not the answer

  • Recognizing excessive tissue response and preventing bruising, lifted skin, broken capillaries, prolonged erythema, and PIH

  • Instructor demonstration and technique correction throughout hands-on work

  • Two supervised model experiences to allow practice with different skin and congestion presentations

  • Advanced case scenarios and discussion of challenging extraction situations

  • Post-extraction protocols and integrating extractions into a complete facial treatment

  • Practical skills review/evaluation, individualized feedback, and Q&A

Areas That May Be Evaluated

  • Finger and hand placement

  • Skin stabilization and body positioning

  • Amount and direction of pressure

  • Angles and repositioning

  • Gauze, cotton-tip, and comedone-extractor technique

  • Approach to stubborn or difficult congestion

  • Efficiency and pace

  • Recognizing when to change approach, reassess, or stop

  • Minimizing unnecessary skin trauma

Included

  • Private full-day 1:1 instruction
